Join presenters catherine yronwode, Charles Porterfield, Aura Laforest, Chas Bogan, Beverley Smith, Aida Severini and other special guests for classes, hands-on workshops, and panel discussions in African-American folk magic, rootwork, and hoodoo. These classes will teach you practical tricks and tips to take your conjure work to a new level of confidence and knowledge. In addition to spell-casting, we also showcase the mystery and magic of worldwide folk religions. Though modern sensibilities often depict them as diminutive sprites that delight children, folklore shows an altogether different picture. They are the spiritual essence of the land: creatures of light and shadow, existing just outside our normal awareness. They are uninhibited by human morality or convention, and so to some they are dangerous, while to the witch they are a source of much inspiration and power. We will begin by paying homage to the Shining Ones and join their revelry that they may guide us in learning the deeper magics that come not by human hands, but from the spirits themselves. Open and welcome to all attending the festival, this Mesa Blanca will be a spiritual Mass designed to allow the spirits to give messages and guidance to the public for progression and healing. Within the Sanse tradition, one of the central public ceremonies is a Misa, usually held within someone's home or in a small temple, they are non-denominational ceremonies as the focus of the Misa is to assist and support the community at large. For Sansistas it is important to give to the communities they are connected and involved with and the offering of a Misa is one of the many ways that they may serve their community. Chas designs and crafts spiritboards and other occult arts for
his company Carnivalia, and he is part owner of The Mystic Dream, a
metaphysical candle shop in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area.
He teaches both in-person and online classes on various occult
subjects. He is a professional rootworker, and proud member of
AIRR. Chas will be teaching a workshop at this year's festival
called Ouija Revelations: Conjuring Spirits and Other Sorceries
on the history and use of these fascinating occult tools.
Jaiye Dania:
A professional IFBB bodybuilder, a certified sports
and nutrition advisor, a celebrity personal trainer, and a co-host
of the Fit+Foxy podcast, Jaiye is a Yoruba-speaking Nigerian-born
Spiritualist and card reader with expertise in Hoodoo and
Quimbanda. He brings encouragement, confidence, knowledge, and a
dynamic background in fitness training to those who are ready to
create for themselves a truly magical lifestyle. He is teaching a
workshop with Madame Nadia on the Magic of Attraction.
Storm Faerywolf:
A professional warlock and author of "Betwixt &
Between: Exploring the Faery Tradition of Witchcraft,", he is holder of
the Black Wand of a Faery Master, and has been practicing the Craft
for over thirty years and teaching for more than twenty. Storm & Co.
will be officiating the Opening Ceremony for this year's festival.
Angela Marie Horner:
Angela Marie Horner discovered her gift for magic and dreaming true
while still a teen. She is a member of AIRR, works at the Lucky Mojo
Curio Company, and at Missionary Independent Spiritual Church,
where she gives readings, and serves as a Candle Deacon setting
lights for clients from around the world.
A graduate of the National Holistic Institute of Massage in
Petaluma, she is also a Certified Massage Therapist and health
educator, and a First aid / CPR instructor with the American Red
Cross, and has a long history of caregiving, both elder care and
diabetic care. She will be participating in this year's Panel
Discussion Workshop on Spells for Legal Work and Court Cases.
Miss Aida:
Miss Aida is a Spiritualist and a Hoodoo Practitioner, specializing
in Cursing, Break-Ups, Spiritual Eradications, and Helping Animals.
She is an administrator of the Lucky Mojo Forum (answering thousands
of questions on a wide variety of spell-casting) and has made
numerous guest appearances on the Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour
Radio Show. She will be teaching a workshop this year on Cursing
and Crossing in Hoodoo!
Beverley Smith:
Beverley Smith currently lives in Southern California and enjoys
her organic garden. She is a stained glass mosaics artist and a conjure
woman. Dr. E. introduced her to rootwork and her knowledge and skill
continues to grow. She is a natural empath and a gifted bone reader.
For the last 18 months, Beverley has hosted a weekly social justice
podcast that tackles current events in the news, as part of the LMC
Radio Network. A self-described pagan and a retired High Priestess
of the Druidic Craft of the Wise (the American Rite), she currently
describes her religious philosophy to be the pursuit of social
justice. This year Beverley is teaching a workshop on
The Moving Flame: Moving Candle Spells in Hoodoo.
Jeremy Weiss, M.D.:
Jeremy is a graduate of catherine yronwode's Hoodoo Rootwork
Correspondence Course and the author of the new book, Vulvamancy,
about which he will be conducting a workshop this year.
Ambrozine LeGare:
Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, Ambrozine is a film/tv actress,
as well as, a "closet" spoken word artist. Her desire and
drive to create vehicles for her work inspired her to
create Liquid Libations Radio in partnership with her
good friend Candelo Kimbisa to have a platform for
the spoken word artist or poetry lover. In addition
to her creative pursuits, Ambrozine is a gifted bone
and tarot card reader, as well as a root worker.
She will be participating in this year's Panel Discussion
Workshop on Spells for Legal Work and Court Cases.
